About
The Institute of Laboratory Animal Science (LTK) is part of the University of Zurich and conducts basic and translational research in laboratory animal science, animal welfare and immunology. Based at UZH Campus Schlieren in the canton of Zurich, it contributes to preclinical research methods and evidence. Its Neuroendocrinology Group studies links between stress, female reproductive health and psychiatric disorders, including endometriosis-associated depression, and develops guidance for integrating sex as a biological variable in rodent research. Its women’s-health relevance lies in research rather than clinical care or commercial solutions.
Research question
Understanding biological mechanisms linking stress, female reproductive health and psychiatric disorders, alongside better integration of sex in preclinical research.
Research contribution
Preclinical research on female reproductive health and neuroendocrinology, and guidance for integrating sex as a biological variable in rodent studies.
Women’s health focus
Primary health area
General Health and WellbeingThe institute contributes cross-cutting preclinical evidence and sex-aware research methods; its Neuroendocrinology Group investigates female reproductive health and related psychiatric disorders.
